James M. and Betty D. Poole recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. The Pooles were married Oct. 14, 1956, at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Savannah. 
The couple built their dream home on Talahi Island and for 36 years enjoyed the saltwater recreation of this waterfront setting. They raised two sons, James M. Poole III and Mark R. Poole. 
In 1982, Mr. Poole retired from Savannah Electric and Power Co. after 38 years of service. In preparation of retirement, the couple relocated to Richmond Hill.
They are also the proud grandparents of two granddaughters, Victoria Poole and Elizabeth Poole.
