Carswell-Hagin wed

Melissa Elizabeth Hagin and Gordon Burnett Carswell, Jr. were united in marriage on December 13, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Statesboro, Ga. The Reverend Daniel Bryant of Pembroke officiated.

The bride is the daughter of George and Susan Hagin of Pembroke. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Lula Sapp of Statesboro and the late Mr. Harold Sapp of Statesboro, and Mr. and Mrs. Mack Hagin of Pembroke.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Carswell, Sr. of Marietta. He is the grandson of the late Rufus and Martha Burnett Carswell and the late Ruben and Ellen Nix all of Atlanta.

Melissa chose her sister, Meredith Hagin, of Pembroke, as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were cousins, Holly Foxworth of Pembroke, Rebecca Sapp of Statesboro, Elizabeth Hagin of Tampa, Fla., and also friends of the bride, Hannah DeLoach of Brooklet, Shauna Williams of Pembroke, Cathleen Castay of Savannah, and Allison Hale of Atlanta.

The best man was friend of the groom, Bryan Shaw of Marietta. Groomsmen were Gordon’s friends, Jeffrey Bristol, Mark Bristol, William Ehrenshperger, David Hu, Derek Mims, Chris Rydzewski, and Tom Funk all of Marietta.

The flower girl was Victoria Mesorio of Pembroke and the ring bearer was Hunter Gibson of Pembroke. Vocalist was Lori Mesorio of Pembroke, and the pianist was Marjorie Bryant of Pembroke.

After the ceremony the reception was held at Snellas Place in Statesboro. The couple honeymooned at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando, Fla.

The couple makes their home in Savannah, where the bride works at Candler Hospital and the groom works at Sylvan Learning Center.
