The Friends of the Richmond Hill Library will hold a book sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the library on Ford Avenue. All types of gently used books will be for sale at bargain prices. Although many are priced lower, most hardbacks are $1, and most paperbacks are 50 cents.

Books are arranged in categories to help customers find what they are looking for. These include hardback, classic, and trade paperback fiction with Christian fiction separated; art; architecture; photography; travel; humor; parenting and relationships; religious and inspirational; history; biography and memoir; nature; science; animals; math; business; finance; technology; how-to; cookbooks; crafts; decorating; building; gardening; war, both fiction and nonfiction; African-American interest; health; science fiction; mystery; spy; adventure paperbacks; politics; romance; children’s and teaching materials; music; Westerns; sports; games; and puzzles. Those looking for special genres can ask volunteers where those books are located.

The sale will feature some local special-interest books and a number of books about the Southeast. A large group of Stephen King books have been donated and are for sale individually. These include some of his earlier, harder-to-find books. There is a large collection of science fiction, including some lovely hard copies of Jean Auel books. A collection of Marvel Magazines, some from the 1980s, also is available. For teachers, there are many instructional materials for sale just in time for school to begin next month. There is a box of maps for sale as a collection. And there are some vintage books that would interest decorators.

Thanks to generous givers, the supply of books for this sale is larger than normal. Therefore, there will be a special price reduction during the final hour. During that time, hardbacks will be four for $1, and paperbacks, including children’s paperbacks and teaching supplies, will be five for $1.

As always, the friends appreciate donations of gently used books. These can be brought to the library during operating hours. Tax-deduction forms are available upon request.

The friends hope that this will be their biggest sale of the year.
