SAVANNAH — The public is invited to an exhibit of work by watercolorist and oil painter Nancy Lebey Solana at the Hospice Savannah Art Gallery, 1352 Eisenhower Drive.

Solana received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree from the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia. Before graduating, she spent a semester with the UGA studies abroad program in Cortona, Italy, where she has since returned to both study and teach alumni workshops. She has primarily exhibited in local shows such as the Isle of Hope art show and has had a solo show at the Iocovozzi gallery.

Solana’s exhibited work was painted for Hospice Savannah in honor of her father, Clifford Lebey, who spent the last six weeks of his life in Hospice House. The show is dedicated to him, a man who she said loved and was loved dearly, and who modeled the essence of care, honesty, and integrity.

"It is in his treasured memory and in honor of the dedication of those who work at Hospice Savannah to minister the same wonderful, tender care that gives solace and comfort to the families who gather in this place to say goodbye to their loved one," Solana said. "The grace and dignity with which its residents and family are treated here is a gift to both patient and loved ones alike. May these paintings bring a bit of comfort and pleasure to all who daily give of themselves, and to those who come in need of it."

The show will hang through March 31 and, as always, a portion of sales will help provide the extra services and programs offered by not-for-profit Hospice Savannah.

Hospice Savannah is the only community-based not-for-profit hospice in the area and the only hospice to have earned the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission. Hospice care, caregiver support (through the Edel Caregiver Institute) and bereavement counseling (through Full Circle Grief and Loss Center) are provided in five area counties, including Bryan. Palliative Care (through the Steward Center for Palliative Care) is offered throughout the greater Savannah area.
