THE LIVING ROOM — We are all more than aware that summer is in full swing — we have the weather reports and the sweat stains to prove it.

Some of you may be basking in the heat with relish, but I’d wager many of us are in the phase of doing anything to cool down and stay that way, even if it means we become veritable hermits until the temperature drops below 80.

When the heat is on, it’s not just animals of the human variety that wish to keep cool. Just ask Texas resident Cara Wohr, who recently experienced the lengths a dog will go to in order to stay cool.

The story begins with Wohr introducing her dog, Baloo, to a magical new toy called an oscillating sprinkler. That’s the kind that move back and forth while shooting several streams of water in a big wave-like pattern. Fun to watch and fun to play in.

Baloo loved pawing at and playing with the sprinkler, especially since it is the time of year where the temperature is regularly over 100 degrees in Texas. But when it’s that hot (and hotter), playing with a sprinkler outside isn’t going to cut it when you’re also covered in thick fur.

That’s when Baloo had the best idea a dog may have ever had. On one particularly sweltering day, the pup simply dragged the sprinkler through the doggy door so he could play with his water toy inside. Baloo basically got to have his cake and eat it too, at least for a few moments.

Wohr captured this great picture of Baloo’s day (not) in the sun, but unfortunately didn’t get any video. However, you can see Baloo joyfully playing with his sprinkler outside in this video below.
