Richmond Hill Middle School recently named Gail Bond the 2010-11 Teacher of the Year. She also received the honor in 1995-96, when the school first began to give out the award.

During the ceremony, coach Rick Bond joined daughter Molly and the RHMS faculty in congratulating the top teacher on her continued dedication to her craft. She expressed her love for teaching and for Richmond Hill Middle School.

Bond and her family moved to Richmond Hill in 1988, and she began teaching in Bryan County in 1990. She came to Georgia from Columbus, Ohio, where she taught fifth grade in an all-girls private school for two years in a team-teacher setting with 42 students.

Bond has taught middle grades English/language arts here in Bryan County, and she has a total of 34 years in education from teaching grades three through eight.

She has been involved in curriculum development and gifted education, and she has presented several teacher workshops at the yearly Georgia State English conference.
