Two YMCA of Coastal Georgia branches are getting some extra help with their finances.
A $5,000 grant from JCPenney After-school will give the Habersham and the Richmond Hill YMCAs of Coastal Georgia the opportunity to help more children and teens participate in safe, life-enriching afterschool programs during this school year.
“The YMCA of Coastal Georgia is dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, by promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility,” said Rachel Meuser Bowman, director of development. “This generous support from JCPenney After-school strengthens our efforts by giving parents in the communities we serve peace of mind, knowing their children have a place to learn, grow and thrive.”
The YMCA of Coastal Georgia currently serves more than 6,000 children per day in before and after-school child care programs, like Pryme Tyme and Fun Club in Chatham, Bryan, Effingham and Liberty counties.
The gifts received are part of the 287 grants being awarded by JCPenney After-school to YMCAs around the country. It is designed to help YMCAs provide financial assistance to students in grades k-12 who otherwise could not afford to participate in after-school programs.
