Local students earn academic honors

The following students from Bryan County were named to the Dean’s List of their college or school at Mercer University for the fall 2011 semester.
Inclusion on these lists requires students to meet rigorous grade-point-average standards specific to their school within the University.
Annie M. Kaye of Richmond Hill, a freshman, was named to the Dean’s List of the College of Liberal Arts.
Charles Y. Zhu of Richmond Hill, a sophomore, was named to the Dean’s List of the College of Liberal Arts.
Richard G. Hawkins of Richmond Hill, a junior, was named to the Dean’s List of the College of Liberal Arts.

Local students named to president’s list at Mercer
The following students from Bryan County were named to the President’s List of their college or school at Mercer University for the fall 2011 semester. Inclusion on these lists requires students to meet rigorous grade-point-average standards specific to their school within the University.
Emily D. Stephens of Richmond Hill, a senior, was named to the President’s List of the Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics.
Precious L. Patterson of Richmond Hill, a freshman, was named to the President’s List of the College of Liberal Arts.
Alena R. Tyson of Richmond Hill, a freshman, was named to the President’s List of the Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics.
Laila Ali of Richmond Hill,  a senior, was named to the President’s List of the Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics.

Thompson makes dean’s list at Columbus State
Valarie Thompson, of Ellabell has made the Dean’s List at Columbus State University.
Thompson, who is majoring in Psychology, earned a place on the list by completing the fall 2011 semester with at least 12 credit hours and a 3.6 or higher GPA.
