Bryan County High School Army JROTC members attended graduation ceremonies September at the Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot in South Carolina.
They were accompanied by instructors Maj. Charles Mercer and Sgt. 1st Class Donald Curry.
JROTC is a career exploration class. Curry said the field trip allowed the students to witness another branch of the military and see how drill and ceremony is done correctly.
The cadets watched the graduation ceremony and witnessed the graduates receiving honors after 13 weeks of working and learning a new career.
The graduation ceremony included two recent graduates of BCHS, Chandler Abbuhl and Jordan Norfleet.
Besides touring the barracks, rifles ranges and base, the students from BCHS were able to talk with graduates about their experiences and witness firsthand the respect and professionalism of the new recruits.

The Exchange Club of Richmond Hill recently named Caroline Odom as its student of the year.

Monthly winners receive $100, with the annual winner getting a $1,000 scholarship.

The Exchange Club has been recognizing students for more than 30 years.

Odom will go on to compete in the Georgia District Exchange Club against students from across the state.
