Almost 400 fourth-graders from George Washington Carver Elementary School ventured back in time last Friday when they went to Fort King George in Darien on a field trip. Organized by Marcy Newberry, students heard presentations on cannon firing, the Guale Indians, weaving cloth and early medical techniques. Many of the students are studying Colonial history, and the trip reinforced what they learned in the classroom.
