Richmond Hill Middle School eighth-grader Reagan Campbell was crowned the district’s top speller last month at Bryan County Schools’ system spelling bee at Dr. George Washington Carver Elementary school.
In addition to Campbell, participants included Carver Elementary fifth-grader Mason Zent and Bryan County Elementary fourth-grader Cameron Gusman.
Zent missed the word imperative, which Campbell spelled correctly. For the trophy, she then correctly spelled the word android.
Campbell now will compete in the district spelling bee Saturday at South Georgia State College in Waycross.  Zent, the alternate, will step up and take Campbell’s place if she is unable to compete.
