GAINESVILLE — Margaret Ann Norton from Richmond Hill was listed on Brenau University dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester.

The rising senior is majoring in nursing.

Students must maintain at least a 3.6 GPA while carrying at least 15 semester hours of course work to make the list.

Piedmont honors

Two students from Bryan County have earned academic honors for the recently completed spring semester at Piedmont College.

They include Willian Adams of Pembroke and Brian Strahan of Richmond Hill.

Students named to the list finished the semester with a GPA of 3.55 to 3.99.

Coastal dean’s list

BRUNSWICK — The College of Coastal Georgia Office of Academic Affairs has listed the names of the 302 students who made dean’s list for the spring 2016 term.

They includded Patricia Plummer and Desiree Tucker, both of Richmond Hill.

To be named to the list, a student must be full time with a term GPA of 3.50 to 3.99.

Allen on Citadel list

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Members of The Citadel South Carolina Corps of Cadets earned top honors in the spring 2016 semester.

Dominique Allen of Richmond Hill was recognized for academic achievement and earned dean’s list recognition.

Dean’s list cadets registered for 12 or more semester hours whose GPAs are 3.2 or higher with no grade below a C for the previous semester’s work.

Seven on Columbia list

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Seven students from Richmond Hill were named to the Columbia College dean’s list for the January-March 2016 and March-May 2016 sessions:

Those who attended the Hunter Army Airfield Campus were: Jeanclaude P. Disney and Jeffrey M. Parent.

Those who attended the Fort Stewart Campus were: Michele G. Eversoll, Luis A. Matias, Danielle M. Miller, Jacob S. Sparrows and Kelsey M. Taylor-Forero.

To be named to the list, a student must have completed 12 semester hours in a 16-week period and achieved a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0-point scale.

Drury honors Larez

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., — Christopher Larez earned a spot on Drury University’s dean’s list in the spring semester.

A student must have earned a GPA of 3.6 or greater while carrying a full-time course load of 12 or more semester hours.

Georgia College honors

MILLEDGEVILLE — Bryan County students were named to academic honors lists for the spring semester at Georgia College.

Dean’s list:

Richmond Hill — Amy Robben, Kristina Bausum, Alyssa Scarboro, Catherine Petrino and Justine Kaasch.

Pembroke — Shelby Smith.

President’s list:

Richmond Hill — Steven Slack and Christina Pitts.

Five on Mercer list

MACON — Five Mercer University students from Richmond Hill have been included on the spring 2016 dean’s list.

They are:

• Aderemi Awe, sophomore, College of Liberal Arts;

• Heather Carpenter, senior, Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics;

• Rachel Kicklighter, junior, College of Liberal Arts;

• Sydney Koenig, senior, College of Liberal Arts; and

• Ellison Wissmach, junior, School of Engineering.

Avera on Reinhardt list

WALESKA — Ansley Avera, of Pembroke, was named to the spring 2016 Reinhardt University dean’s list.

She is among 407 students who maintained 3.5 GPAs based on 12 semester credit hours with no grade less than a B.

Ruiz on N. Michigan list

Tristan Ruiz of Richmond Hill was named Northern Michigan University announces the dean’s list for the winter 2016 semester.

The school reported her GPA was 4.00.

Georgia Tech graduates

ATLANTA — The Georgia Institute of Technology presented degrees to approximately 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students during the Institute’s 251st Commencement exercises on May 6 and 7 at the McCamish Pavilion.

Graduates included three from Richmond Hill:

• Shih An Hsu, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering

• Joshua Porter, Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering

• Ansley Thomas, Bachelor of Science in Literature, Media, and Communication

Georgia College graduates

MILLEDGEVILLE — Seven Richmond Hill students reecieved degrees from Georgia College during its spring 2016 graduation:

• James Berry, degree in health and human performance

• Rebecca Gaylor, degree in psychology

• Karlton Green, degree in chemistry

• Kaylee Lawless, degree in exercise science

• Justin Peacock, degree in instructional technology

• Sawyer Reed, degree in biology

• Cooper Russell, degree in history.

Three reports recently presented scholarships

Richmond Hill High School senior Jacey Shanholtzer received the Dawn Harrington Berry Spotlight Award, which was awarded by the Richmond Hill Community Theatre and includes a $500 scholarship. The award was created in memory of Dawn Harrington Berry, a long time RHCT member and president who died in 2016.

Garden Club

The Richmond Hill Garden Club recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Katherine Wood and a $500 scholarship to Carly Vargas, both seniors graduating from Richmond Hill High School.

The awards were presented May 8 during Honors Night at RHHS.

Wood plans to attend Green Mountain College in Vermont and major in environmental studies.

Vargas plans to attend Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee, to pursue a degree in either environmental studies or biology.

The garden club awards a $1,000 scholarship annually to a local high school senior who plans to major in a field related to environmental concerns, plants and/or gardening.

This year, due to having two exceptional candidates, the garden club awarded an additional $500 scholarship.

Exchange Club

The Exchange Club of Richmond Hill recently named Caroline Odom as its student of the year.

The club each month during the school year names a student of the month, and the student of the year is chosen from among those winners.

Awards are based on academic performance, community involvement and leadership.

Monthly winners receive $100, with the annual winner getting a $1,000 scholarship.

The Exchange Club has been recognizing students for more than 30 years.

Odom will go on to compete in the Georgia District Exchange Club against students from across the state.
