Bryan County Schools recently launched a new website and mobile app. The new BCS website can be found at www.bryancountyschools.org.

The mobile app is available for both Apple and Android devices. Links to download the app can be found on the website under the “Connect" tab in the upper right corner. Links to the district’s twitter and Facebook accounts can also be found there.

The new mobile app will now allow users to subscribe to receive push notifications from both the Bryan County School District and each individual school.

“This app will be a great resource for busy parents who will now be able to check lunch menus, events calendars and even send a quick email to their child’s teacher from most anywhere, anytime,” said Superintendent Paul Brooksher.

Bryan County Schools is one of the first school districts in the region to offer its own mobile app.

“Effective and efficient communication is essential when it comes to working with schools, students, and parents,” Brooksher said. “Considering the majority of communication and information gathering is now done via some type of mobile device, I am extremely proud that Bryan County Schools is rolling out a new website and mobile app.”

The website still contains links to information about the school calendar, board of education and student registration, as well as links to revamped websites for each individual school.

The awards were presented May 8 during Honors Night at RHHS.

Wood plans to attend Green Mountain College in Vermont and major in environmental studies.

Vargas plans to attend Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee, to pursue a degree in either environmental studies or biology.

The garden club awards a $1,000 scholarship annually to a local high school senior who plans to major in a field related to environmental concerns, plants and/or gardening.

This year, due to having two exceptional candidates, the garden club awarded an additional $500 scholarship.

Exchange Club

The Exchange Club of Richmond Hill recently named Caroline Odom as its student of the year.

The club each month during the school year names a student of the month, and the student of the year is chosen from among those winners.

Awards are based on academic performance, community involvement and leadership.

Monthly winners receive $100, with the annual winner getting a $1,000 scholarship.

The Exchange Club has been recognizing students for more than 30 years.

Odom will go on to compete in the Georgia District Exchange Club against students from across the state.
