Planning for 4-H summer camps is under way, and registration for the June slots is just around the corner.
Fifth- and sixth-graders are invited to camp at Rock Eagle and compete for the tribal shield June 1-6. Events include canoeing, swimming, sailing, rock-climbing, zip-line, archery, nature walks, herpetology, crafts and dances. Registration for this age group is from 1-6 p.m. Feb. 11 at the 4-H office in Pembroke and from 1-6 p.m. Feb 25 near the gym door at G.W. Carver Elementary School in Richmond Hill. Slots filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Fees are three monthly payments of $75 due March 15, April 15 and May 15. First- and second-year classes may have different activities/based on participation.
Cost is $315 and includes transportation, meals, lodging, T-shirt and activities. A $90 non-refundable deposit is due at registration.
Junior campers (seventh- and eighth-graders) can camp June 9-13 at Burton 4-H Center on Tybee Island.  The cost is $320 and includes transportation, lodging, meals, T-shirt, Savannah River dinner cruise, marsh trawl, ghost tour, Tybee Lighthouse and Marine Science Center tours, fun classes, crafts and dances.
Registration is March 4-13, and a $95 deposit must be received with application. Balance is to be paid by May 15 and can be made in three equal payments of $75 on March 15, April 15 and May 15.  
Senior campers (ninth- through 12th-graders) can camp June 30-July 4 at Wahsega 4-H Center near Dahlonega. The cost is $330 and includes transportation, lodging, meals, railroad/tubing trip, mining for gold, zip line, rock climbing, dances and more.
Registration is March 4-13 and a $105 deposit must be received with application. Balance is to be paid by May 15 and can be made in three equal payments of $75 on March 15, April 15 and May 15.  
Senior extreme camp (ninth- through 12th-grades) is June 10-14 at Frank Fitch Pioneer Camp. Only outdoor-type people should apply. The cost is $320 and includes transportation, lodging, meals and T-shirt.
Campers will stay in wooden huts and tents, cook some meals over a fire, hike, canoe the Ocmulgee River, fish for bass with their own fishing gear, shoot shotguns, 3-D archery, night swims, tour Georgia College and State University and other activities.

Wilderness camp (ninth- through 12th-grades) can camp July 14-18 at Wahsega 4-H Center near Dahlonega.  The cost is $345 and includes transportation, lodging, meals, T-shirt, white-water rafting on Tennessee’s Ocoee River and cave crawling at Raccoon Mountain near Chattanooga, overnight camp out, classes at Wahsega especially developed for Wilderness Challenge Camp, night recreation with dancing and outdoor sports.
Registration is $105, and a deposit must be received with the application. The balance is to be paid by May 15 and can be made in three equal payments of $80 on March 15, April 15 and May 15. Participants must sign waivers to participate in rafting and cave crawling.
