The Richmond Hill and Bryan County baseball teams have key region matchups with playoff implications over the next several days.

The Redskins, 3-8 in Region 2-AA, host Bacon County Friday at 5 p.m., then face Vidalia for two games next week. Bryan County is one game behind Metter and Swainsboro in the region standings. Vidalia and Bacon are tied for second in the region at 7-4.

Bryan County beat Jeff Davis, ranked No. 6 in the state, 6-3 last week. Dahlson Brown threw a complete game, while Brian Meyer, Gage Hagan and Caleb Johns each had an RBI.

The Redskins are 18-9 overall, and Coach Jason Roundtree calls them the best team he’s had in his four years at the helm. They also play in the toughest region in their class, which saw three teams reach the Final Four last year.

“If we were in AAA or another AA region, we’d win it,” Roundtree said. “These guys are giving it their all.”

Richmond Hill, meanwhile, faces Glynn Academy at 6 p.m. tonight at home. The Wildcats are 2-5 in Region 2-AAAAAA and have three games next week against winless Bradwell Institute.

The Red Terrors beat Richmond Hill 2-0 in Brunswick Monday night. The two teams face off again Friday at 6 p.m. at Glynn Academy.

Richmond Hill, 15-8 overall, split a pair of games over spring break with Ware County, the top-ranked team in AAAA.
