Hinesville’s seventh annual Blues & BBQ festival is set for 4-11:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, in the downtown/Bradwell Park area.
Live entertainment has been lined up and the crowd-pleasing barbecue contest will return from 4-5 p.m. New this year, the top two winners in each category and the overall winner will win a total of $500 in cash. The categories are pork, beef, chicken and ribs.
Barbecue lovers can participate as a judge in the people’s choice contest. Attendees can buy a $3 wooden nickel that will get them samples from each participating contestant. Judges then use the nickels to vote for their favorite barbecue vendor.  Contest entries and vendor applications for the festival are being accepted.
All businesses, restaurants and backyard barbecue connoisseurs who think they serve up the best saucy fare in the South are encouraged to enter the competition.
