Remember God sees all you do

Pastor's corner

POSTED: January 27, 2018 5:30 p.m.

Last week I went on a missions trip to Nicaragua. One day as we were taking a rest from cleaning a school yard, several kids from the community sat with us.

A little boy about 8 years old had picked up a piece of a cigarette thinking no one had noticed. Other kids brought it to our attention and someone asked what he picked up.

I had seen him throw it between his legs but his answer was that he didn’t know what anyone was talking about. In other words, he denied having it.

Maybe this wasn’t a huge deal, but the truth I want to convey is that people do things thinking that no one is watching. Even if no human is watching, we know that God is.

Proverbs 15:3 tells us, "The eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good."

So if we decide to cheat on our income taxes, we might get by with it with the government. But God is watching.

If a husband or wife is being unfaithful to their spouse, no body may ever find out. But God is watching.

If an employee decides to steal something from work, the employer may not see it. But God is watching.

I think you get the point. Even though bad things we may do are hidden from others, God is always watching.

The truth of the matter is that the same God who is watching is the same God who is willing to come into our lives through his Son Jesus Christ and transform us so that we won’t desire to do bad things.
