Job fair slated for Sept. 27

POSTED: September 25, 2017 8:48 a.m.

The Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce, the Development Authority of Bryan County (DABC) and the North Bryan County Chamber of Commerce will host a Bryan County Job Fair from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the Hendrix Park Gymnasium.

The park is located at 3960 Wilma Edwards Road in Ellabell.

“The Bryan County Job Fair is the perfect opportunity to showcase the employers who are hiring right here in Bryan County,” said Trace Palmer, 2017 RHBC Chamber of Commerce chair. “Job seekers learn about employment opportunities that they may not have known about. It’s a win-win for local business and residents looking to work closer to home.”

Sarah Williams, chairperson of the North Bryan Chamber of Commerce, said “The annual job fair is a great way for local employers and job seekers to connect with one another. We are looking forward to connecting Bryan County’s businesses with the great workforce that is available in the county.”

“We are very excited to see what opportunities the 2017 job fair will bring for the citizens of Bryan County,” added Noah Covington, DABC chair. “We had just over 300 people attend the job fair last year in Richmond Hill, and we are hoping to have a strong turnout again this year.”

Job seekers should come dressed in professional attire and bring plenty of resumes with them. Companies that are hiring and have already registered to participate include: Blue Bell Creameries, Daniel Defense, Dorel Home Furnishings, Orafol Americas, Roofing Professional Inc., United States Air Force, West Penn Testing Group, Caesarstone, Dairy Queen, Liberty National, Richmond Hill Montessori School, Bryan County Board of Commissioners and Bryan County Schools.

WorkSource Coastal will also be in attendance.

Businesses/organizations that are interested in being a vendor at the Bryan County Job Fair must be based in Bryan County and seeking candidates for potential employment or be a member of one of the two chambers. Service providers who wish to participate must be a member in good standing of one of the two chambers.

There is no charge to be a vendor, and, in light of Hurricane Irma, registration for the job fair has been extended through Friday. Companies interested in participating should RSVP to Justin Farquhar, project manager at the DABC. He can be reached via e-mail at jfarquhar@bryan-county.org or via phone at (912) 653-3897.

Vendor set-up will begin at 2 p.m. and the job fair will begin at 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
