BoE names new assistant principal at BCHS

The Bryan County Board of Education has completed its search for Bryan County High School’s new assistant principal. Jason Kornegay will assume his new role immediately, following board action on the superintendent’s recommendation. The action was taken following a closed session to discuss personnel during the Board of Education’s regular meeting on Thursday night.

Kornegay previously served as a social studies teacher in BartowCounty. He has served as department chair, team leader, leadership committee chair, teacher mentor and has experience coaching both boys and girls soccer and cross country. Kornegay has been featured on Good Day Atlanta and recognized by State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge for his participation in the Stock Market Game.

Kornegay earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from theUniversity of Georgia, a master of arts in teaching in secondary education from Georgia College and State University, and holds two specialist degrees, one from Valdosta State Universityin curriculum and instruction/exemplary teaching and a second in educational leadership from Kennesaw State University.

“We are excited about Mr. Kornegay taking on the role of assistant principal in our school system and look forward to the positive impact he will have on Bryan County High School and BryanCountySchools,” Superintendent Dr. Paul Brooksher said in a press release issued Friday.
