The Bryan County Bark Park will have a patriotic themed July bring your own dog Yappy Hour and fancy dress competition for Wednesday.
Fish Tales Restaurant at Fort McAllister Marina will host the event and owners, Butch and Sherri Broome will donate a percentage of all proceeds to the non-profit organization behind the Bryan County Bark Park.
To cool down dogs will again be able to enjoy the Bark Park’s special doggie smoothies in tropical honey and peanut butter blueberry flavors for $3 for small and $4 for large cups.
There will be the opportunity to enter your dog for the best patriotic red, white and blue costume — with prizes awarded by the judges at 8 p.m. Prizes will be donated by Paw Parazzi Pet Boutique and Grooming Spa and the Bryan County Bark Park Association.
Wendy Bolton, President of the Bryan County Bark Park, said, the public’s support is appreciated.
“We have finished preparing the allocated land at Henderson Park — which was an expensive and lengthy process,” she said. “However, we will be erecting fences and completing the handicapped accessible sidewalk soon and we really need to raise every last cent we can to complete the park. The community has already been very generous but we know how much people want the Bark Park to open and are keen to deliver on our promises”.
The money raised supports the fundraising campaign of the Bryan County Bark Park, a non-profit organization obtaining 501(c) 3 status. Donations may be tax deductible. Visit the website at and like them on Facebook.
