Boyd re-elected to GFB board of directors

MACON — Georgia Farm Bureau members in the organization’s 7th District recently re-elected Ben Boyd of Screven County to represent their district on the bureau board of directors for his second two-year term.

The election was held Dec. 4 during the 75th Annual Georgia Farm Bureau Convention on Jekyll Island. The GFB 7th District is comprised of 17 counties, including Bryan. Gary Bell of Evans County also serves as a GFB director for the district.

Boyd raises cattle and grows cotton, peanuts, corn and soybeans. He has served on the Screven County Farm Bureau Executive Committee for nine years as the Screven County Farm Bureau Young Farmer Chairman. He served on the bureau’s Young Farmer Committee from 2002-03. In 2003, Boyd served as committee chairman, during which time he served on the bureau’s board. Boyd served on the American Farm Bureau Young Farmer & Rancher Committee from 2004-05 and was committee chairman on the AFB’s board of directors in 2005. Boyd also has served on the GFB’s Cotton Advisory Committee.

Boyd is a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Georgia Southern University.
