Wildcats performance nothing short of inspired

Despite loss, Wildcats show mettle

POSTED: November 18, 2012 12:06 p.m.

Even in a loss, Richmond Hill High School's football team made a statement. They proved their season was no fluke of an easy schedule. They showed they can compete with anyone.

And I spent three hours driving home late Saturday night and early this morning trying to think of the right word(s) to sum up what I saw from the Wildcats in their 17-15 loss at Warner Robins, and trying to figure out exactly what that game said about this program.

The ones I kept coming up with were: courageous. Gutty. Heroic. Inspired. I think all apply in some measure.

Warner Robins is a good team. They may be a great one. But the Wildcats were every bit their equals on Saturday night and nearly pulled out an upset that would've sent shockwaves through the state.

Instead, Richmond Hill will have to find some comfort in the notion they left it all on the field and have nothing to hang their heads about.

Cliches, yeah, but in this case they're true.Delete-Merge UpThose of you who made the trip or watched it online know that. Those who didn't, need to.

I'll be writing more about this game and the Wildcats' season over the next few days and I hope I can do it some sort of justice. For now, I simpy wanted to tip my cap to the Wildcats, their coaches and their fans, who also showed up big.

I suspect you earned a lot of respect Saturday night. You definitely have mine.
