Victoria Wood echoed Poland’s plea for protection of fragile global ecosystems, Sarah Graham espoused the Russian Federation’s commitment to prevent monopolies extending beyond the confines of the globe into space and Devin Knight highlighted the plight of developing nations, seeking assistance for Niger in attaining technological parody and security in the global communication network – hefty issues for mankind, let alone middle school students.

But those were the issues Richmond Hill Middle students researched and the position statements they articulated as they participated in the 10th Annual Middle School Model United Nations Conference held at the Coastal Georgia Center on March 4. Twelve students from Richmond Hill Middle School joined 350 area students in participating in the conference, designed to expose students to the issues confronting the global community.

General assembly delegates, Devin Knight and Chance Griggs, representing the country of Niger, earned honorable mention for their performance.
