RH Council hears recycling presentation

POSTED: July 18, 2012 10:12 a.m.

Members of the Richmond Hill City Council listened on Tuesday to a presentation about curbside recycling in the city at a public hearing.

During the hearing held before the council's regularly scheduled meeting, Russ Hightower with Waste Management explained how recycling would work in the city. Many household items like plastic bottles, cardboard, aluminum cans and more could be used to redeem points through a recycle bank account for coupons and other offers, he said.

About 20 residents showed up for the hearing to ask questions of the council and of Hightower. Richmond Hill resident Wendy Hunter also presented the council with a petition of city residents who wanted curbside recycling brought to the city.

The council took no action on the matter during its meeting that followed.
