Rain stays away for Sunday Little League action

POSTED: July 15, 2012 5:02 p.m.

Somehow, it didn't rain at the ballpark Sunday during the early afternoon games of the 2012 Georgia Little League 10/11-year-old state championship,.

Oh, it rained just about everywhere else. Thundered and spat lightning, too. I got in some bad traffic on I-95 heading in to work and the rain was coming down so hard around Hwy. 204 I figured no way they'd get the 2 p.m. games in on time. Got to work and could see black clouds over toward the I-95/Hwy. 17 exit and saw lightning blink inside the clouds.

Nope, no way we play today.

But somehow, it steered well clear of the ballpark.

Note: Gotta say I'm impressed with the way the folks running the tournament are running the tournament. Far as I know, this thing has gone off without a hitch -- and that's not easy when you're dealing with everything from 10 teams and their families to making sure the facilities are first-rate and the games get played on time. Kudos to those responsible.
