Before opening for business Thursday, Donnie Routh, owner of Baldino’s Giant Jersey Subs restaurant in Richmond Hill, gave away more than $3,000.
But the cash wasn’t just up for grabs. It was a special donation of $2,023.50 and another $1,300 in cash donations for the family of Bryan County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Robert “Bobby” Crapse.
Routh decided to host the fundraiser and donate half of the restaurant’s sales from June 30 to the Crapse family after the sergeant lost his life June 15 in a head-on collision on I-95 near Pooler. Crapse is survived by his wife, Ashli, and three children.
