The intersection at Mulberry Drive and Highway 17 is dangerous.
That’s the message some residents of Mulberry Subdivision made clear to members of the Richmond Hill City Council and city officials Wednesday when the city hosted a public workshop regarding a proposed Family Dollar store at that intersection.
The developers, TRC Richmond Hill, originally requested approval of four requests to begin work on the store at the March 6 council meeting. The council tabled all the requests until a traffic study could be completed.
Mayor Harold Fowler told attendees that a traffic study for that area is in progress, but the city would not have the results of the study until sometime next week.
He also told the residents the city was aware of the need and agreed a traffic light was needed at that intersection. However, he reminded residents the Department of Transportation has denied requests from the city for that in the past.
