Hundreds of people gathered in J.F. Gregory Park Saturday to enjoy family fishing, military presentations, birthday cake and much more-all in celebration of Richmond Hill's 50th anniversary.
Though thunderstorms ended the celebration early, city officials and attendees still deemed the event a success. Richmond Hill Mayor Harold Fowler said he was pleased to see such a good turnout.
"We really appreciate the military being here, the presentations were great," Fowler said. "The kids had a lot of fun catching fish-I know a lot of fish were caught."
Not only was family fishing a hit, so were the numerous other activities available. Bounce houses and a rock climbing wall were among the children's activities, while a citywide garage sale entertained both children and parents alike.
