Bryan County’s home sales in January were down quite a bit compared to sales in November and December, but some say the dip isn’t likely to last long with new home construction continuing to rise and more consistency in home sales.
The dip in sales is likely due to the holiday season, said Linda King, a Re/Max of Savannah agent and Savannah Area Board of Realtors vice president of Governmental Affairs for 2012.
“In December, everybody is busy and they aren’t buying houses,” she said. “They come before Christmas and after Christmas — they aren’t making the contacts in December to close in January.”
Only 27 homes were sold in January in Bryan County — down from 46 in December and 39 in November, according to a report from the Savannah Area Board of Realtors, which monitors home sales in Bryan County.
Home sales in January 2011 were greater compared to this year’s numbers, when 32 homes were sold across the county, according to the report.
