Programs offered through the United Way of Bryan County will receive much-needed funding after this year’s campaign generated more than $64,000.
Though the campaign, which wrapped up Nov. 18, fell short of its $72,000 goal, United Way of Bryan County Director Janice Blunt said the shortcoming is not indicative of the community support.
“One of our biggest challenges in Bryan County is that, unlike Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties, we don’t have a lot of industrial accounts that run very large employee campaigns,” Blunt said in an email.
“Our total figures are not indicative of the generosity of the citizens of Bryan County. Many Bryan County residents give through their workplace, and in many instances that is located in another county. We have the community support – we just don’t get to put it on our ‘thermometer.’”
