Tiffany Howard threw a perfect game as Bryan County High School beat Truetlen County 8-0 in five innings in the first game of the best-of-three series in Pembroke.

Howard struck out 11. Sierra Newman, Taylor Butler and McKenzie Covington had two hits each for the Lady Redskins, who improved to 23-7.

The winner of the best-of-three series advances to the second round of the Region 3-A tourney and qualifies for the state Class A playoffs.
