The Richmond Hill State Fish Hatchery was a hub of activity Saturday morning as children fished, kayaked and tried their hand at archery during the annual Outdoor Adventure Day.
Fisheries Biologist Joel Fleming said around 200 people attended the event, which was held in honor of National Hunting and Fishing Day.
“I think everyone had a great time,” Fleming said. “This has been one of the better fishing days that we’ve had. We brought in close to 6,000 fish to stock the ponds on top of what was already in there. We like for every kid to catch at least one.”
Children ages 15 and younger were invited to participate in the activities. In addition to fishing, kayaking and archery, kids had the opportunity to try the Laser Shot Hunter Simulator.
