The bride, dressed in a long, ivory gown, and her tuxedo-clad groom showed not a hint of nervousness.
After all, this was their seventh trip down the aisle since the day they first said “I do” some 50 years ago. Bob and Jenice Parks say one of the keys to their lasting marriage is fre quently renewing their marriage vows, which they did again Jan. 22 to mark their golden anniversary.
The Guyton couple is one of three married couples who will be part of a panel discussion at 7 p.m. today at Coastal Community Christian Church at 10770 Ford Ave., Richmond Hill. The panel will also include Bill and Barbara Haddock, who have been married 52 years, and Rick and Beverly Faircloth, who celebrated their 28th anniversary in December. They will be sharing how they have overcome difficulties and managed to stay happily married. The panel marks the conclusion of a sermon series called “Marriage Matters.”
“There’s no doubt that marriage is under attack today,” said Mark O. Snavely, senior minister of Coastal Community Christian Church. “We’re hoping to offer folks an inside look at how some couples have faced the challenges of life and maintained their relationships.”
The public is invited to the panel discussion. Classes for children ages 3-12 are available and a nursery will be provided.
